Franklin & Marshall College provides long-term disability insurance coverage to full time, benefit eligible employees in the event that a disability lasts more than 180 consecutive days.

  • Long term disability coverage is provided at no cost to the employee.
  • Income benefits are payable at the end of the 6th month of total disability, or after the employee has exhausted his/her eligibility for paid sick leave from Franklin & Marshall College, whichever occurs later.
  • The monthly income benefit is equal to 60% of the employee's actual base monthly salary up to a maximum monthly benefit of $10,000.  For Senior Officers, the monthly income benefit is equal to 66.67% of the actual base monthly salary up to a maximum monthly benefit of $12,500.
  • Coverage begins the first day of the calendar month coinciding with or following 365 days of full-time College employment.  The waiting period will be waived for new full-time employees who were insured through his/her previous employer under a group long-term disability policy providing income benefits for five years of disability.
