When hiring or recommending a job candidate for hire, decisions are to be made based on the needs of the College and the qualifications of the candidate. In order to avoid a conflict of interest or the appearance of an impropriety, any offer of employment to a family member of a current employee must be approved in advance by (1) the Director, Human Resources (for professional staff appointments) or the Provost and Dean of the Faculty (for faculty appointments), and (2) the President or his designee. Additionally, College employees are not permitted to supervise, or be supervised by, a family member. For purposes of this policy, family members will generally include an employee's spouse or same-sex domestic partner, child, grandchild, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister, brother, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.
