Biography

Kathy provides career advising to students in Ware and Weis College Houses in the Office of Student & Post-Graduate Development.  She has previously worked in the Office of Alumni Programs and Annual Giving and the former Career Advisement Services at F&M.  She has also worked in Career Services and as a part-time Academic Adviser at Penn State University, Berks Campus.  Kathy worked at HACC Lancaster with the KEYS Program and as the Interim Coordinator of Multicultural Programs.  She has taught the course “Effective Career Decision Making” at both Penn State University and Harrisburg Area Community College.  She is a Certified Administrator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Kathy has a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from George Mason University and Master of Education in Student Affairs & Higher Education from Kutztown University.   She has taken graduate coursework in School & Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania.  

As co-chair of the F&M Mindfulness Committee, she helps to lead mindfulness programs on campus to support the well-being of the F&M community. These programs include: weekly meditation, Mindful U (a mindfulness-based stress management class for students), the Mindfulness Book Group on Wednesdays at noon-1pm in Harwood Commons, and the MAP Train Your Brain exercise and meditation sessions.  She has completed mindfulness training and workshops at the Penn Program for Mindfulness, Jefferson Mindfulness Institute, Philadelphia Shambhala Center, and Institute for Mindful Leadership.
