Prof. Ken-ichi Miura has previously taught at Northwestern University, Harvard University and Temple University prior to assuming the role of Director of the Japanese Program at Franklin&Marshall College. He has served as Assistant Director of the Japanese School at Middlebury College Summer School in Vermont for the past five years. In addition to his professional teaching career, Prof. Miura works as a tester and a tester-trainer of OPI (Oral Proficiency Interviews) of the Japanese language for ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages). He also tests Japanese language proficiency for US governmental organizations.

Outside of his academic career, Prof. Miura enjoys playing the piano, cooking, traveling and listening to music. He is also a tea connoisseur and enjoys drinking teas from around the world.
