Welcoming Presidents Past

This magazine article is part of Fall 2018 / Issue 92

They only come around once every few years—or sometimes, every couple of decades— but presidential announcement ceremonies are among the most historic events in the College’s history. This past May, the College community welcomed F&M’s 16th president, Barbara K. Altmann, at a ceremony in the Kreisel Lobby of the Roschel Performing Arts Center. Other recent presidential announcement ceremonies included those for the 14th president, John A. Fry, on Feb. 13, 2002, in front of Old Main, and the 15th president, Daniel R. Porterfield, on Nov. 16, 2010, in Mayser Gymnasium.
