UPDATE: The time for the April 14 meditation at Millport mentioned below has been changed to 5 p.m. The reception for seniors involved in environmental studies has been changed to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Wohlsen Center for the Sustainable Environment.

Dear Millport Members and Friends,

Welcome to the first issue of Streamlines, the newsletter of the Millport Conservancy. As I write to you, we have just completed our annual spring cleanup day on March 16. During this wonderful event, Millport friends of all ages came out to pick up trash, rake leaves and twigs, trim trails, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We are grateful for their efforts and their support!

We have many other exciting activities on tap this spring and invite you to join us. To celebrate Earth Week/Sustainability Week in April, the Conservancy will host a meditation led by Franklin & Marshall College Chaplain Susan Minasian at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 14. On Saturday, April 20, Millport members and friends will gather to plant seedlings and F&M seniors will be honored at a 1 p.m. reception for their contributions to environmental studies. For another great Millport event -- the annual Fly on the Run, a catch-and-release tournament for all levels of anglers -- fishing foursomes are needed. The event will be held Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16. It is a major fundraiser for the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center and promises to be an exciting event!

For other activities taking place at Millport, please see our calendar, which gives a sense of the vital resource Millport is to the community and to F&M. Our co-founder, my mother Carolyn W. Wohlsen, always said how proud she was of what Millport had become. She was able to realize her vision with my father, Robert S. Wohlsen '50. With her passing, her passion will be sustained through my family, our volunteers, our members, students and everyone that Millport has touched.
