Off-Campus Study and COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has created much uncertainty all over the globe, especially in the field of study abroad. We are happy to report that a small number of F&M students successfully studied abroad in the Summer and Fall 2021 terms, a larger group studied abroad during the Spring 2022 term, and Summer 2022 was back to full capacity.

While some program cancellations are still possible, most programs are operating and will continue to do so with appropriate COVID restrictions and protocols in place. Students are advised to understand their program's withdrawal and refund policy and to stay in close contact with their program as their departure dates approach.

For students who are interested in beginning the process but are unsure how their plans may be impacted by the pandemic, we encourage them to start the Advising process. It is much easier to withdraw from the process should plans change than begin the process late as application deadlines are strict. The OCS Advisors will be able to individually guide students depending on location of interest.
