In July 2009, the Center for Opinion Research moved into the beautiful, newly renovated Harris Center for Business, Government, and Public Policy. We are located on the third floor. Our modern research facilities include a high-tech call center, state-of-the-art focus group facility, staff offices, and lounge, break, and kitchen areas for use by staff and clients.

Call Center
Our new call center has 46 interviewer workstations, each with a computer terminal and telephone. In addition, our previous call center in the Appel Building, which has 25 stations, remains available for use during large surveys. Both centers are fully computerized to allow for optimal use of our computer-assisted telephone interviewing system, CASES, which is maintained on a central server that runs on a Windows XP local area network. The server contains two drives dedicated to our research activities that are set as mirrored drives. The data stored on these drives are backed up and stored nightly by our staff. Advanced phone and computer capabilities allow supervisors to listen to interviewers at the same time as they are able to use the CASES monitor system to view the input screen of each interviewer. This combination telephone and CASES monitoring enables supervisors to thoroughly and accurately monitor all aspects of the questionnaire administration process. Focus Group Facility
Our new focus group facility was specifically designed to provide a comfortable, professional setting for conducting successful focus groups, depth interviews, and listening sessions. The focus group room is fully computerized and has complete audio-visual resources, including cameras, large wall-mounted monitor, and dvd recording capability. Other amenities include executive seating for up to 12 participants, telephone/modem and wireless computer connections, and built-in white board. The adjacent client area has a two-way observation mirror, wall monitor, and telephone and wireless computer connections. A lounge area and kitchen are also available for staff and client use. We can design and conduct a focus group from recruitment through analysis, or organizations can rent our facility to conduct already planned groups.
