Funds collection is only permitted in the Steinman College Center between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM.  Tabling in the SCC is not permitted during Common Hour (Thursdays 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM).  Funds collection may be allowed in other areas and outside of the normal hours with special approval from the OSEL.

The Event Registration Form on Presence should be used to reserve a table in the SCC Atrium.

The reservation for tabling should be submitted prior to submitting your Funds Collection Form

When submitting the reservation, be sure to answer “Yes” for funds collection.  You should be contacted by the OSEL within a week to arrange all details related to securing a cash box and change fund for your funds collection. Groups are encouraged to keep track of all items that are sold and the amount of money that is collected for each item.  Diligence, including daily counting and documentation of the amount collected, will serve to deter theft.

The Office of Student Engagement & Leadership cannot be held responsible for money that is lost or stolen during the process of funds collection, especially in cases where the cash handling policies and procedures were not followed as directed.

When planning a funds collection activity, you should consider the following:

  • What will you be selling and for how much?
  • When will you be tabling?  How will you find volunteers
  • Will you accept checks, or will you accept cash only?
    • All checks must be made out to Franklin & Marshall College with the name of the organization/event on the memo line.
  • Will you accept credit cards?
    • If yes, be sure to indicate this on the Funds Collection Form.  A  meeting with the OSEL will be required.
  • Will you need a change fund?
    • It is recommended that all funds collection activities include a change fund, which allows you to give change for larger bills.
  • What will you do with the funds raised?  
  • Will you be donating to a charity?  Which one?
