  • Summer 2019 Marketing & Development Intern
  • Lancaster Recreation Commission, Lancaster, PA

Being able to undertake an unpaid internship this summer was made possible by the generosity of an F&M donor to whom I would like to express my most heartfelt appreciation.  It is because of this kindness that I was given the opportunity to get hands-on experience in a professional environment and to explore a career option that I otherwise would not have been able to.

I know the importance and benefits of being able to intern over the summer, and as a first generation college student I also know how difficult it can be to get such an opportunity.  I immersed myself in working in the real world and the ten weeks allowed me to put into use the knowledge, skills and theoretic practice of what I have learned at F&M.  I also gained much insight into people skills, networking, getting the job done, going above and beyond, working with what you have and bringing out the best in people.

Over this summer, I hope that I have proven to be a great representative of F&M while giving back to our community. Without the kindness of this donor, I would not have been able to accomplish as much as I have for Lancaster which I consider to be my home and a community that I have come to care so deeply for.  Thank you.

Donors of this Fund
The F&M Internship Fund allows F&M students to participate in unpaid or underpaid internships spanning any number of industries or areas of interest. It was established by numerous donors who believe the impact of internship experiences provide a critical complement to an F&M education. Their gifts are restricted to supporting internships but provide students with the flexibility to explore a range of opportunities in any given year. Any gift made to the College can be directed to support the F&M Internship Fund.
