Our History and Traditions

Roschel College House, designed by the renowned architect, Robert A.M. Stern, was founded in 2011.  Our mission is to enliven the student experience by transforming the House into a site of academic, artistic, social, and civic performance.

Throughout the year we host a variety of forums, receptions, movie series, and speakers.   Together we have built many traditions:

  • Paella Party: A celebration welcoming everyone to the House
  • What Matters?:  A monthly lunch series with a guest leading a discussion of What Matters?
  • First Thursday Happy Hour:  Live music and mocktails
  • Tastes of Home:  The whole House cooks food that reminds them of home
  • Hispanic Heritage Month
  • Chinese New  Year
  • Peer Mentoring:  An active program of advising and bonding
  • Passport:  A semester long exploration by first year students of the college and community
  • Bagel Breakfast:  A weekly opportunity to talk over bagels
  • Milk and Cookie Mondays:  Freshly baked cookies
  • Peacock Invitational
  • Spring Barbeque:  Grilling and chilling
  • Coming Home:  Our winter gathering
  • Spring Fling:  An end of the year dance and celebration
