F&M Public Safety Earns PLEAC Premier Status
Franklin & Marshall College’s Department of Public Safety has been formally recognized as a Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) Premier Accredited Agency.
PLEAC designation represents the highest tier of law enforcement credentialing in the Commonwealth. This distinction places F&M among just 50 law enforcement agencies statewide to achieve premier status (Pennsylvania is home to more than 1,000 police departments). The department hosted James Adams, accreditation program coordinator at the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, at an Aug. 6 celebration ceremony at Lombardo Welcome Center.

F&M Public Safety has been continuously accredited since 2011, demonstrating a long-standing dedication to meeting and exceeding the highest standards in law enforcement practices. Earning premier status represents not only compliance, but a proven culture of continuous improvement and leadership in public safety.
“This recognition represents one of the highest honors a law enforcement agency can receive, reflecting our enduring commitment to excellence and a culture rooted in professionalism and accountability. It serves as a testament to the ongoing hard work and dedication of our officers and staff and underscores the department’s role in advancing a safe, supportive environment where the F&M community can thrive,” said Jonathan Rosnick, associate vice president and chief of police at F&M.
The PLEAC accreditation program is a rigorous, voluntary process that evaluates law enforcement agencies against established best-practice standards across all aspects of operations, including policy development, training, use of force, investigations, community engagement, officer safety, and organizational management. Agencies must undergo comprehensive self-assessment, independent on-site evaluation, and ongoing periodic review to maintain accredited status, ensuring continued accountability and alignment with evolving professional standards.
