Parents Give Back

  • Campus Spring

The Franklin & Marshall College Parents Council is a group of prominent and influential parents of current F&M students who are invited by the College to join the council. These members of the Franklin & Marshall community serve as knowledgeable and generous advocates for the mission of the College through engagement and service. The Board of Trustees, the President and other members of the College’s senior management team rely on these appointed parent leaders as thought partners on issues of strategic importance in higher education and on matters affecting the long-term market position, culture and financial strength of Franklin & Marshall College. The efforts of members of the Parents Council help to enhance the living and learning experiences for all current and future F&M students.

If you are interested in joining the Parents Council, contact Director of Parent and Athletic Advancement Katie Crowe Wood at 717-358-4834 or katie.wood@fandm.edu.

Member Responsibilities

Parents Council traditionally holds one-day meetings on campus in the fall (typically during Homecoming & Family Weekend) and spring (usually in April). We ask that members make every effort to attend the on-campus meetings.

These bi-annual meetings take shape around an agenda that includes administrative updates, conversation with President Altmann, presentations from faculty, students, coaches and campus leaders, dialogue around key issues on campus and time to visit socially with fellow Council members. Robust attendance and active participation enhance the experience for all Council members and help to ensure the College can benefit from the collective insight of the entire Council.

In addition, Council members may be asked to undertake ad hoc assignments related to their areas of expertise or connections they may have with key potential partners.

We further ask that members of Parents Council demonstrate philanthropic leadership by including Franklin & Marshall among their most important charitable priorities during their period of service.  Members should be willing to support the Franklin & Marshall Fund at a leadership level annually, and to consider investing at some level in at least one of our current priorities. We are grateful for the dedication and leadership demonstrated by our council members.
