Dr. Benjamin Bowser ‘69
Adrian C. Lamos, Jr ‘72
Dr. Todd Mealy
Prof. LeRoy Pernell ‘71

This Common Hour will feature a panel discussion with Dr. Todd Mealy, author of "This is the Rat Speaking: Black Power and the Promise of Racial Consciousness at Franklin & Marshall College in the Age of the Takeover"; Dr. Benjamin Bowser '69, who wrote the forward for the book; Adrian Lamos Jr. '72; and Professor LeRoy Pernell '71. Panelists will discuss the historical importance of the 1969 protest at Franklin & Marshall College, when black students locked their professors in Goethean Hall, demanding redress for academic and personal grievances. The protest paralleled a number of similar protests across college campuses at a time of activism and a rise in racial consciousness across America.

This event was proposed by Van Gosse and Kim Armstrong and is sponsored by the Africana Studies program; the departments of American Studies and History; and the Office of the Provost.
