Biography
Dr. Stuster received his Ph.D. from Yale University in 2024 and was previously a post-doctoral fellow at the U.S. Naval War College. He is also a foreign policy editor for Lawfare, an online publication covering the intersection of national security and law.
His research focuses on the role of regional powers in great-power competition, looking particularly at the Middle East. He is currently working on a book, adapted from his dissertation, that considers how shifts in the balance of power in the Middle East affected regional countries' relations with the great powers during the North Yemen Civil War, Six-Day War, Lebanese Civil War, and Second Intifada. In addition, he is pursing research on the ways in which social reinforcement in diplomatic networks influence the spread of international norms and how states with clandestine nuclear weapons send diplomatic signals.
