We are interested in the development of synthetic methods; from reductive amination with polyamines in the development of novel fluorescent chemosensors, to selective oxidation, and biomimetic transfer hydrogenation.  Most recently our work has been focused on the study of conditions for the effective and selective transfer hydrogenation to alkenes conjugated to carbonyls and analogs.  The use of a Hantzsch amide developed in our laboratory has led to methodology that does not require chromatography, a significant advantage over the use of the well known Hantzsch ester.
