Palestinian Human Rights Activist
Bassem Eid is a Palestinian human rights activist. He grew up in the UNRWA refugee camp of Shuafat, rising to prominence in the first Palestinian uprising. He was a senior field researcher for B’Tselem and founded the Jerusalem-based Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group. He has spoken in front of Congress, the European Union, British Parliament, and many human rights organizations. Eid calls himself “a proud Palestinian who grew up in a refugee camp and raised a large family.”
