After-Hours Medical Care

Life-Threatening Emergencies

For life-threatening emergencies please call the Department of Public Safety at 717-358-3939 and/or 911.

Urgent But Non-Emergent Needs

For urgent (e.g. laceration, injury, sore throat, ear ache, urinary tract infection) but not emergent (suicidal ideation, chest pain, shortness of breath, acute allergic reaction) needs that require evaluation when the Student Wellness Center is closed, please visit a Lancaster General Urgent Care Facility.

Go to Lancaster General Health Urgent Care to view exact locations, hours of operations, the current wait time at either facility, and to reserve your spot in line. 

The closest Lancaster General Health Urgent Care Facilities are:

  • 540 N Duke Street (walking distance from campus)
  • Rohrerstown Urgent Care at 2118 Spring Valley Rd (driving distance from campus. 

Students who need assistance with transportation can speak with the Department of Public Safety about a possible taxi voucher.  Remember to take your health insurance card with you to the Urgent Care or Emergency Department. 

Telehealth/Virtual Appointments

You can schedule a video visit with a provider through Penn Medicine OnDemand or by calling 717-544-2222.

OnDemand visits are billed to insurance. Check with your insurance provider regarding coverage for this option.

For non-urgent needs and questions, please wait to contact the Student Wellness Center during open hours, or leave a message on the voicemail, which will be addressed the following business day.

Non-Life-Threatening Psychological Emergencies

For non-life threatening psychological emergencies (suicidal thoughts, risk of violent behavior, loss of emotional control, impairment of thinking), the Student Wellness Center provides 24-hour crisis care during the academic year. Call the Student Wellness Center 717-544-9051 and stay on the line and you will be connected with an on-call counselor. 

Do not use email to contact Counseling Services in an emergency situation.  

Emergencies During Business Hours

Call 717-544-9051 and tell Counseling Services that you need immediate assistance.
