Allergy Injections

Allergy serum injections may be given at the Student Wellness Center under the supervision of a physician, or qualified CRNP. If you plan to receive allergy injections while attending college, your allergist must provide the following information:
  • Allergy injection order
  • Detailed injection schedule
  • Specific instructions for injection reactions, late or missed injections
  • Vials must be clearly labeled with the following:
    • Student’s name
    • Expiration date (check diluent too)
    • Contents of each extract
    • Strength of each extract
Registered nurses administer allergy injections during specific designated times when a physician or qualified CRNP is in the facility. You will need to meet with one of the RNs prior to receiving your first injection at the Student Wellness Center. At this time the nurse will review the information provided by your allergist and review the policies of the Student Wellness Center regarding allergy injections. The first dose from a vial must be administered at the prescribing allergist office. It is recommended that you find a local allergist for care when Student Wellness staff are unavailable (academic breaks) or if there is untoward reaction that requires follow up from a specialist.

Please call the Student Wellness Center (717-544-9051) for more details, to schedule an appointment for the initial evaluation with a nurse, or with any additional questions.

We will provide/assist students with referrals to additional medical resources in the community as needed.
