Office of the Provost
Dr. Mary Osirim is the Interim Provost and Dean of the Faculty. She is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and former Provost at Bryn Mawr College. At Bryn Mawr, she held several other positions including Dean of Graduate Studies, Chair of the Department of Sociology, Director of Africana Studies, and Faculty Diversity Liaison. Dr. Osirim’s scholarly research has focused on women, entrepreneurship, the state and non-governmental organizations in the microenterprise sectors of Nigeria and Zimbabwe, the development of gender studies scholarship in Anglophone Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as transnationalism and community development among African immigrants in the United States.
The Office of the Provost at F&M oversees the Academic Affairs division including the curriculum, faculty governance and personnel matters, and the academic resources, institutes, and centers listed below. In this role, Dr. Osirim works closely with faculty and staff to ensure that academic initiatives align with the College's mission of excellence in liberal arts education.
Dr. Osirim maintains an open-door policy and encourages faculty, staff, and students to stop by and say “hello.”
