Social Life

We know a vibrant campus life is about more than how you spend your evenings and weekends — it’s a major contributor to your college experience. Opportunities to build community, discover your passions, and develop new skills are waiting for you at F&M. Learn more about how to get involved.

Building Connections

Stepping out of your comfort zone to join a new club or activity could unlock connections and lead you to a community you might never have expected. Lena Bell ’25 found both a creative outlet and a close-knit friend group when she joined F&M Players, a student-led musical theatre club. “It’s a whole new community of people that I didn’t think I would ever be connecting with,” she said.

Inspiring Leaders

What leadership opportunities will you discover on campus? “I could maybe become the person who leads rehearsals, I could start to learn how to arrange music,” Yasmin Nicholas ’24 said of her decision to join The Poor Richards, an F&M a cappella group. “I’ve done all those things and was the music director. It’s been very rewarding.”

Clubs & Organizations

Whatever you’re interested in or curious about, you can explore it at F&M. With 80+ clubs and organizations on campus — and new ones being formed by your peers every year — you can dive deep into your favorite topics, test out new activities, and enjoy opportunities for fun and learning.

Athletics & Recreation

Athletics at F&M is more than football games and a good way to work up a healthy sweat. With club sports, intramural sports, and terrific facilities for informal recreation, we see athletics as a big part of an integrated education, providing important lessons in leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

Fraternities & Sororities

Since the first fraternity was established on campus in 1853, F&M's fraternities and sororities have been part of our community, offering interested students additional opportunities for intellectual advancement, leader development, responsible citizenship and community building. You can join a fraternity or sorority beginning your second semester of your first year on campus.
