Growing Through Community: Evann Tan '25 Reflects on F&M's Impact
Evann Tan ’25 was eager to engage with the F&M community, build supportive relationships, and grow both intellectually and personally. Tan said the relationships he built—with professors and peers—have been the most meaningful part of his time at F&M. “The mentorship and guidance from faculty have helped shape my academic and professional journey, while the friendships I’ve made here will last a lifetime,” he said.

Why did you choose to attend F&M?
I chose to attend F&M because of its strong emphasis on close student-faculty relationships, its rigorous academic programs, and the supportive community. The small class sizes and the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with professors and peers made F&M the perfect place for me to grow both intellectually and personally.
What is something that you did for fun at F&M?
I enjoyed F&M’s annual Halloween trips to Hershey Park, organized by the College Entertainment Committee (CEC).
What did you enjoy most about your time at the College?
The relationships I built—with both my professors and my peers—have been the most meaningful part of my time at F&M. The mentorship and guidance from faculty have helped shape my academic and professional journey, while the friendships I’ve made here will last a lifetime.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I’ll be pursuing a master of science degree in sustainability management at Columbia University.
What brief advice would you give to incoming students in F&M’s Class of 2029?
Embrace every opportunity that comes your way, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Some of the most rewarding experiences come from taking risks and trying something new.

Class of 2026 Celebrates Four-Year Journey with Lux et Lex Walk
On May 8, students bookended their college journey with the Lux et Lex walk, which they first completed as incoming students. Members of the campus community gathered to cheer for students as they passed under the Lux et Lex arch on Klauder-Apple walkway and celebrated with a champagne toast on Harris Patio.
