Why F&M? Current Students Share
What calls students to Franklin & Marshall’s campus?
“I knew I’d be challenged here, but I also knew that I would be supported and inspired here,” said Emily Harris ’27.
As we inch closer to F&M’s early decision deadline on Nov. 15, students cite these reasons – and many others – when they share why F&M felt like the right college fit.
“My college counselor used the phrase, ‘Big fish, small pond,’ when describing F&M.
The small class sizes provide opportunities to make connections with other students
and professors.”
“F&M stood out to me as a close-knit community that valued intellectual curiosity,
experiential learning, and close relationships between students and faculty.”
“I knew F&M alumni who spoke at length about the community... Despite their different
backgrounds and class years, they all belonged to sections of campus that felt like
home to them. Now it feels like home to me.”
“I chose to attend F&M because of the close-knit community, as well as the rigorous
course load. I knew that attending F&M would give me the best preparation for my future
research endeavors and career.”
“As an international student, I appreciated F&M's supportive and inclusive environment,
which fosters a strong sense of community and encourages intellectual curiosity.”
“The vibrant people at F&M – coupled with their incredible talent in the government
department – convinced me to take the plunge and upend myself to Lancaster from Los
Angeles. Nothing can replace the culture of scholarship and integrity we share at
this wonderful college.”
“F&M has many opportunities for students to study off campus, which enables students
to learn in a different type of experiential environment.”
“The small class sizes and supportive environment make it easy to connect with people,
explore different opportunities, and grow both academically and personally.”
“I’ve been able to combine my interests in mathematics, computer science and social
impact through research and faculty mentorship.”
“What truly drew me in was the liberal arts education. The opportunity to freely explore
different disciplines excited me, and the ability to receive a broad and well-rounded
education really stood out to me.”
