Sociology majors graduating from F&M should:

be able to use the sociological perspective as a way of looking at the world.

be familiar with key issues and findings in a range of important sub-fields within the discipline.

be able to recognize connections between sociology and the perspectives of other disciplines, especially those in the social sciences.

be familiar with the major theorists and theoretical frameworks in sociology.

be familiar with a variety of sociological methods and possess the ability to evaluate the research of others.

be able to use the sociological voice in written work, especially with respect to presenting and analyzing quantitative data.
