First-Years, First Steps at Lux et Lex Walk

Franklin & Marshall’s Class of 2029 took its first collective passage around campus during the Lux et Lex walk Aug. 24. Lux et Lex – Light and Law – is the College’s motto found inscribed on the metal arch spanning Klauder-Apple Walkway.

Donning College House shirts – Bonchek (red), Brooks (green) and Ware (purple) – the 515 first-year and transfer students passed under the archway’s golden letters and were greeted by a cascade of bubbles, cheering and welcoming signs. Faculty, staff and returning students lined walkways on campus to applaud the incoming class.

In 2029, the cohort will bookend its time at F&M by passing under the arch in the opposite direction. The class was formally welcomed to campus at Convocation Aug. 21.

Welcome to F&M, Class of 2029!

Living & Learning at F&M

F&M's College Houses have onsite faculty members as advisers, residence halls and large, open common areas that serve as "third spaces" where faculty and students meet for organized events and informal discussions.
