Chris Bemis '14 wins first place in Organic Division...

Chris Bemis '14 received first place in the Organic Division of the Intercollegiate Student Chemists Convention at Albright College in April, 2014. Bemis won this title with the presentation of his Chemistry Honors research "Thermal chemistry of spiro[bicyclo[4.2.0]cot-2-ene-7, 1' -cyclopropane].  After a continuation of his research during this past summer, with his mentor, Professor Phyllis Leber, Bemis heads off to pursue his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  He looks forward to the possibility of becoming a professor as he reflects on his relationships here at F&M, "which have inspired me to pursue a career in academia so that I may impact students in the way that the F&M chemistry professors have impacted me."
