The winner of the 2022 Academy of American Poets Poetry prize is Seyla Velez '25. Her winning poem is titled "To the things that Raised Me". About the poem, guest judge Diamond Forde writes: "This poem has astounding movement, travels through a landscape and a community that feels alive and thriving through every image. This is large in part due to the strength of its catalogue, the specificity in items like VapoRub and regaetton—and the bodies that shout and move in this poem! What a tribute!"
